What it does
Data shows what the platform reads: how many sources feed a run, where coverage stops, state by state, and how fresh each one is. It also holds your own data — figures, rules and files you add — which every run reads before anything else.
When to use it
Use it before a run in a market you have not worked in with us, to see what is there. Use Your own data when you have numbers a run should trust over the market: your rent comps, your underwriting rules, your cost figures.
Do not read a covered state as covered everywhere in it. Depth varies by county; see Coverage and data.
How to use it
- Open Data under Data in the left list. The strip at the top counts what is connected, read live, with the date it was measured.
- Ask the data: type a question about what we hold — which sources cover a county, what each publishes, where coverage stops — and press Ask. Answers cite the source they came from.
- Coverage: click a state to see its sources, or search them with Find a source….
- Your own data: Choose files or drop them (PDF, CSV, XLSX, DOCX, TXT, MD), or paste a figure, a rule or a link. Give it a title if you like and press Add to my data.
What you get back
- Answers to your coverage questions, each with its source.
- For your own data: Added — a run will read it from now on. Each item shows whether it was read, under What you have added; Manage in Knowledge edits it.
What you add is yours alone: it is never published in the catalog and never shown to anyone else.
Time and cost
Browsing the catalog and the map costs nothing. An answer in Ask the data reads live property-records databases, which is what costs: with no credits left, the question is not sent and nothing is charged. When an answer offers to start research, nothing starts until you press its start button, and that is charged as a run.
